Maintain/prepare job site/shop.
Clean, paint, and maintain mechanical and plant rooms/centers.
Minor preventive maintenance of chillers, boilers and cooling towers.
Filter changes in air handlers, terminal devices and fan coils.

Responsibilities:
Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Inspect all facilities specific mechanical air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment to identify possible deficiencies and/or malfunctions.
Inspect mechanical devices and makes any necessary repairs or corrections.
Interpret all information gathered from blueprints, instruction books and sketches to maintain all equipment.
Ensure all equipment is kept in efficient working order and operated in a safe manner.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
Maintain assigned mechanical area.
Fabricate and maintain ICRA consistent with UPMC policy and standards.
Perform all work following infection control procedures.
Complete and records work orders; submits hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
Perform preventive maintenance and take proactive steps to ensure equipment is properly maintained.

Qualifications:
General Maintenance 2 - HVAC/Service Tech:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Two years general maintenance-related work experience OR completion of a trade school required.
Military experience considered.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Driver's License Driver's License Act 34 Journeyman 1 - Service Technician:
High School diploma with three-year apprenticeship in institutional refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems is required.
Completion of a recognized course in institutional refrigeration and air conditioning may be substituted year for year for apprenticeship and experience, or equivalent, such as on-the-job training.
Must have working knowledge of plumbing, steam fitting and sheet metal work.
May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medication is stored.
No contact with medications is allowed.
Licenses and Certifications Notes:
Must possess appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements, as needed.
Journeyman 2 - Service Technician:
High School diploma with three-year apprenticeship in institutional refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation systems is required.
